I’ll begin with the moral of the story: MONKEYS ARE CRAZY. Especially the gangs of monkeys that live in the Monkey Forest, a tourist attraction in Ubud, Bali. These Crab-Eating Macaques are so accustomed to human visitors that homo-sapiens don’t phase them in the slightest. When you are in the monkey forest, you are in their territory and they will treat you accordingly.
At first we thought “oh how cute! awwww” and then it was “I can let them climb on me to eat a cracker from my hand! awwww”, shortly followed by “hey, that’s MY waterbottle” and finally “get off me! stop stealing my stuff! I don’t have any bananas for you!”. I think our pictures tell that same story pretty clearly. At one point I had four monkeys on me grabbing at my necklace, sunglasses, waterbottle, and even checking my pockets for something they could hold ransom.

Well, I understand how cute these monkeys can be, but I know they can be tricksters. Before the Portland Zoo put the monkey cage out of reach, I tried to feed a peanut to one of those cutsie things. Sucker took the peanut, grabbed my arm (they are super strong) then spent the next few minutes laughing at me ( I actually screamed–he scared & hurt me!). So, I am glad these monkeys were kind to you!
Thanks again for the updates and the pictures–the pictures are super cute!!!
