Yangmingshan Park & Gù Xiāng

This beautiful Sunday was spent walking through Yangmingshan Park and the surrounding Calla Lily flower gardens, followed by the most delicious dinner we have had in Taiwan thus far. After a few hours of adventuring, we sat down at a place called 故鄉 (Gù Xiāng) , which translates to “Home Town”. The meal began with some bottomless sweet potato and ginger soup (SO GOOD!) and within minutes the rest of our meal came out one dish at a time. We had dragon’s whiskers & chuan qi (yummy veggies you can’t get in America), fried shrimp, clams with basil, & gong pao chicken. 1. I don’t have to worry about you guys not eating well. The food really looks good. Also, the city looks fascinating to me. Thanks for keeping the blog–I enjoy the updates and knowing all is well. Am forwarding the link to a couple of folks who are really interested in what’s going on. We may not be able to travel much, but we can do it vicariously through you!! Love and kisses.

    • The food has been SO GOOD 90% of the time! Taipei is a really cool city. The people here are very friendly except for the occasional person giving us the stink-eye (Brad says there are some people here who were raised extremely “traditional” who may frown on western visitors). Overall we couldn’t have asked for an easier entrance and transition to SE Asia and new cultures. I am looking forward to visiting southern Taiwan where there are more older historical sites and some aboriginal Taiwanese tribes.
